Play games and puzzles – Solving puzzles or playing games that encourage creative or strategic thought are a great and fun way to give your brain a workout and increase its power. In fact, doctors often recommend that adults who have problems staying focused play games or work on puzzles for a few minutes each day as a form of therapy. There are many different games available such as chess, scrabble, Sudoku, Scattergories, word find and crossword puzzles, just to name a few. There are many fun and challenging games that will help increase your brain power available for different gaming consoles as well as for many different smart phones. With technology that is available today, you can be exercising your brain just about anywhere and at any time.

Practice memory exercises – make it a point each day to try and commit some piece of information to memory. It could be the address on a building, or a phone number or email address of a new business contact. It doesn’t really matter what you decide to memorize, it’s just important that you go through the exercise on a consistent basis. You will see that as you progress along with this exercise, your ability to recall information and the quickness that you can memorize something with increase.

Get your beauty rest – Even if you cannot get a full eight hours of sleep each night, you will still greatly benefit if you do get yourself on a regular sleeping schedule. If you have a schedule and keep to it, your mind will be well rested and ready to operate at peak performance when the time comes. Many people struggle with fatigue during the day and this is often due to the fact that they are not on a schedule. The go to bed and wake up at different times throughout the week. This fatigue leads to being less productive during your day. People who set schedules for themselves are typically more productive, organized and successful.

Your brain is like the rest of your body in that it needs to be challenged and worked out in order to get stronger and perform at a higher level. These techniques are proven to be effective in helping people to get that much needed brain workout in, but just like working out your muscles, doing something once or twice won’t get you the results you are looking for. You must be consistent in your efforts. Make a commitment to yourself that you will apply these techniques for several weeks in a row and you are guaranteed to see an increase in your brain power.
